Description
50 Forint
Issued by the Republic of Hungary (1989–date), the 50 Forint coin circulated between 1992 and 2011 under the long‑standing Forint currency system (1946–date). Struck in copper‑nickel (75% copper, 25% nickel), this mid‑denomination coin reflects Hungary’s modern coinage design following the transition from the People’s Republic era.
With its milled edge, medal alignment ↑↑, and round shape, the coin weighs 7.6 g and measures 27.4 mm in diameter. Valued at 50 HUF (≈ INR 15), it was widely used in everyday transactions until later replaced by updated designs. Today, it remains a collectible piece of Hungary’s post‑Cold War numismatic history.
