Description
10 Pfennigs
Issued by the German Democratic Republic (GDR, 1949–1990), the 10 Pfennigs coin circulated between 1948 and 1950 under the Mark currency system (1948–1990). Struck in lightweight aluminium, this early post‑war coin reflects the utilitarian design of East Germany’s formative years.
With its milled edge, medal alignment ↑↑, and round shape, the coin was widely used until it was demonetized on 31 December 1970. Today, it stands as a collectible piece of East German monetary history, representing the transitional period before the GDR’s later coinage reforms.
